Competitions

The Humanities Students’ Association run a range of academic competitions throughout the year for all Bond students, in particularly humanities students.

Our aim is to provide students within the faculty with opportunities to succeed in competitions outside of class. Providing students with the experience of representing Bond University in various intervarsity competitions.

While the Competitions Director portfolio is a relatively new position in the HSA, there are already a number of competitions that have been successfully run, including:

·     Debating competition

·     Film And Television competition

·     Journalism competition

·     Language competitions

Debating Competition:

The Humanities Students’ Association successfully runs its annual Debating Competition. The most recent took place in 101 with 36 competitors and was open to all Bond students. The style of competition involves teams of three in an entertaining knock-out competition, with winners of preliminary debates moving to the semi finals and final, which is held following afternoon tea in the University Club.

Congratulations to the winning team of Aleksandre Kutlaca, Alexander Smith and Kristen Zornada. Also congratulations to our runner-ups Brady Lowe, Benjamin Rix and Daniel Ryan who went on to represent Bond in May at the Queensland State Debating Championship, beating both Griffith teams in the process.

Thank you to Satin Restaurant and Lounge Bar in Broadbeach for providing fantastic sponsorship and prizes for the event.

Film and Television Competition:

The Humanities Students’ Association is currently organising its inaugural Film and Television competition, in the form of a scriptwriting competition. This competition will be open to all Film and Television students. Further details will be announced shortly.

Journalism Competition:

Plans for a journalism competition open to students are currently being arranged.
